Neoleukin's goal was to effectively communicate the advantages of their de novo protein design program to their investors and partners during the JPM healthcare conference. In support, we created a set of informative and eye-catching illustrations for the client's corporate deck, as well as a 3D animation for use both at the conference and on the Neoleukin website.

With only one month before the conference, the timeline was too tight to allow creation of a complete High-end 3D animation. Instead, we planned the development process to allow design of a set of 3D illustrations depicting the technology's key elements first, before then completing the animation.

Why did we use this
animation type?

Neoleukin Theraputics develops de novo protein drugs — a field of development tightly associated with computational biology and other methods Visual Science uses to create scientifically accurate models. Since we pioneered this approach in 2008, our high-end animations and molecular visualizations have remained unique on the market in terms of scientific accuracy and level of detail. This has allowed us to build the most accurate and detailed models of a range of human viruses, from HIV and influenza, to Ebola and Zika. However, high-end animations can only be created using scientific-grade molecular modeling and simulation, meaning that this approach's only downside is the amount of resources and time required.

In this case, since our client's time was limited, we used the high-end style only for the most crucial elements of the story, and applied less time-consuming regular 3D modeling for the rest of the animation. Our combined approach in this case enabled us to produce a superior-quality animation within a timeline more akin to those for much less accurate and eye-catching 3D animations.
