RUSNANO collaborates with Italian company Galileo Vacuum Systems s.p.a. to produce metallized packaging materials and equipment for handling the metal coating of rolled materials. The project is based on an innovative nanotechnology for selective metallization coating that makes it possible to metallize any flexible surface. With this technology selective metallization (with a pre-set configuration) can be performed with high output and low production costs. Metallization of textile materials and fabrics allows for the improvement of many materials properties. At the same time, it preserves the permeability to air and moisture and tensile strength. The incorporation of a metallic layer reduces the electrical surface resistivity of fabric, giving them antistatic properties. The developed metallization methods also can be used in the production of electrical conductive fabrics and for manufacturing “smart textiles”. Furthermore, metallized packaging (film and paper) allows for the preservation of various types of products for long periods.

The domestic production of metallized textiles, films and paper holds considerable promise. The Russian market for metallized packaging, for example, is only beginning to develop, and approximately 80 percent of metallized films and nearly 100 percent of metallized paper is imported from other countries.

Cooperation with RUSNANO
